FAQs - DIY ICE BATH
Can the Chest Freezer Ice Bath Essentials be used with a Portable, Collapsible, or Inflatable Cold Plunge?
If you want to cool the water in your portable, collapsible, or inflatable ice bath, you'll need a chiller. However, we don't have chillers available on our website. But don't worry! If you're interested in keeping your water clean and monitoring its temperature, we offer Ozone Water Purifier, Thermostat, and 4-1 Water Filtration Pump devices. To learn more about what these devices can do for you, visit our Ice Bath Essentials Page or download our free DIY Ice Bath E-Book for more information.
How long does the water in my ice bath stay clean when using Grounded Ginger Ice Bath Essentials?
Just like a pool at home, you can automate the maintenance of your ice bath as much as possible. However, there will still be some upkeep required to ensure your water remains crystal clear and free from bacteria that are released from your body during an ice bath. In my personal experience, I have been able to maintain clean water for up to 6 months using Grounded Ginger Ice Bath Essentials. During that time, the only maintenance tasks I had to perform were cleaning the 4-1 Water Pump Filter, removing any excess debris with a Net Scoop that the pump couldn't get, and activating the Ozone Purifier after each plunge to eliminate bacteria and viruses released from my skin. With these simple steps, I was good to go!
How many plunges does the Grounded Ginger do per week?
I plunge every single day either at night or first light depending how I feel. I turn my Ozone on after every plunge to ensure my water stays super clean. Go with the flow, tune in with the body & plunge when you feel is right. 3 times per week at a minimum for proven results.
Do I need to use chemicals like chlorine to keep the water clean in my ice bath?
I opt not to use chlorine in my ice bath due to its potential negative effects on the skin in both the short and long term. Instead, I rely on the Ozone feature, which not only eliminates chlorine from the tap water I use in my ice bath but also removes any bacteria and viruses that are expelled from my skin after each plunge. Since our bodies absorb substances from water, I prefer to keep the water as fresh and unaltered as possible. However, if chlorine is your only option, you can use it similarly to how it's used in a pool.
How frequently should I use my Ice Bath Essentials to maintain clean and icy cold water in my cold plunge?
The frequency of running my products to maintain clean and icy water will depend on your specific plunging schedule and the number of times you plunge during the day. The following information is based on daily plunges:
- Ozone Water Purifier: I initially run it for 60 minutes when I fill the chest freezer with water to remove chlorine and other impurities from the tap water. After each plunge, I also run it for another 60 minutes to eliminate bacteria and viruses.
- 4-1 Water Pump: I run it for 3 hours during the day and another 3 hours at night. This helps to remove the majority of floaties present in the water. For any remaining floaties, I use a scoop net to remove them manually.
- Thermostat: The thermostat allows me to run the chest freezer intermittently throughout the day, maintaining my desired water temperature of 0 degrees Celsius. If you're using portable plunges, the thermostat can be used to monitor the water temperature, but it won't actively keep the water chilled. For that, you would need to invest in a chest freezer or a chiller device.
- Debris Scoop Net - I use this when & if I need to remove any floaties that the 4-1 Water Pump cannot get.
Please note that you may need to adjust these running times based on your own preferences and usage patterns.
