DIY ICE BATH SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Before you take the plunge into icy cold water, remember to prioritise safety.

Switch off the power and unplug everything, including the chest freezer. With thousands of ice bathers creating their own DIY ice bath out of a chest freezer, it’s always best to be cautious.

Ensure you install a Safety Switch, safety switches protect you from electric shock. They turn off the electricity
within milliseconds when a current leak is detected.

DIY ICE BATH LIABILITY

Building your own DIY ice bath is undertaken at your own risk. Grounded Ginger, including its employees, assumes no liability for any injuries, expense, death, or damages that may occur to you or to equipment purchased from Grounded Ginger, other companies or manufacturers.

This information is derived from our own success and research, as well as that of many others. We recommend conducting your own research. Happy plunging!

CHILD SAFETY

Legally, here in Australia, you must have your body of water locked up whether it is a lockable pool fence at a certain height or a lockable cover over your spa. The same principles apply for an ice bath, as it is still a body of water. More importantly, this is to prevent children or people who can't swim from opening and climbing into the body of water and drowning.

There are many ways to lock your chest freezer when not in use, such as installing a padlock with a key/code or purchasing child-safe lockable attachments from your local hardware store.

Make this a priority and ensure your ice bath is legal and safe in case children are around.

Check out your local regulation and lock that chest freezer up to keep everyone safe when it’s not in use.
